Meda chair. Alberto meda.

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

The Italian designer Alberto Meda designed this clever chair for Vitra in 1996. The Meda, named for the designer, syncs to your body’s movement without complicated mechanisms under the seat. Instead, two side pivots induces the back of the chair to drop as the shape of the seat changes. A pneumatic spring controls the chair in combination with a spiral spring that is located underneath the seat. The spring gives the sitter the opportunity to move freely or locked into place when a button is pressed. The height can also be set and locked with a touch of another button. The Meda chair’s upholstery is stretch-supported over the frame, which ensures that both the backrest and seat have elasticity. Meda is available with different seat and backrest combinations of double mesh, leather or fabric, while the armrest grips are covered in leather. Meda makes for the perfect office chair by combining comfort, stability, and design aesthetic.
