Eileen Gray uses the Latin word for furniture, ‘res mobiles’, quite literally when she designed the Occasional table in 1927. Gray created this light functional furniture to move effortlessly. The user is able to lift the top of the table “for all occasions” as if it had a handle with a sliding mechanism to keep the top within comfortable reach. The little amount of weight to the table allows for easy moving and placing in separate rooms for the needs of the user. This Classicon table comes in either round or rectangular table-tops with a chromium-plated steel tube frame and an MDF high-gloss lacquered finish tabletop. This smart table keeps to its name as a true “occasional table”, but also withstands the test of time as a popular table still today.
