The Windowseat is designed to create personal space within a public setting. The architectural elements applied to this chair, explore the idea of a sub-architectural space. The Windowseat is suitable for both public and private areas. It is designed to be a comfortable refuge from the hustle and bustle of busy lobbies, airports, or open office environments.

The ‘windowseat lounge chair’ by mike simonian and maaike evers of san francisco-based studio mike and maaike for the haworth collection is conceived as a comfortable refuge for both commercial and private use. By taking constructive elements (walls and ceiling) and applying them to a chair, the duo explores the idea of sub-architectural space, creating a room-within-a-room, complete with its own unique perspective. as office and workplaces shift towards a more open plan, it is important to have a place to escape, to think, to make a call, or relax. while sitting in the ‘windowseat’, the ambient noise is muffled. produced in both canopy and open versions, with or without ottoman, the lounge chair is fully upholstered over a foam-padded rigid molded frame, and swivels on a steel base.
