Dutch designer christien meindertsma loves design that engages a user in the most visceral way. Her work, in a truly Dutch fashion, is clever, engaging, even sentimental, and forces us to question the way in which we interact with our physical surroundings. She is interested in “the products we consume and the materials they are made of” and it shows in her latest work, urchin-shaped pouf stools handmade (by christien). She knits New Zealand wool, a material she is fascinated with and intimately understands, and uses enormous broomsticks to knit each pouf over the course of six weeks.
