The simple, well-designed interior of the RhB Zweispannungstriebzug of the Swiss Canton of Graubünden evokes sensibilities of the local architecture with two central themes. The “Vrin” surface is an interpretation of the Graubünden wooden houses and features a stylish linear decoration used on the train’s interior. The wooden lines are interrupted by boxed materials with a stone-like appearance: the “Vals” surface. This surface recalls that of irregular stratified monoliths. The seats feature a checkered pattern evocative of the past, when British travelers frequented the region quite often. The patterns in first class communicate casual luxury with a beautiful wall decoration while in second class, strong blue tones reveal a vivacious sensibility.
