in february 2015, flos released an innovative pendant light which was presented as a prototype at euroluce 2013. always imaginative, paul cocksedge, the young, london-based designer, created shade as an unconventional solution to the clutter typically associated with connecting light fittings such as intrusive wires, cables and switches. the pendant itself has no bulb or electrical wires – it’s simply a shade, as the name states, with a LED light source, instead, coming from the floor below and the paper shade, which in turn is suspended from the ceiling with next-to-invisible, capillary-thin wires. paul cocksedge adds: “shade has an almost dream-like mystery. it utilizes floor and ceiling both, but appears unconnected to either…!”
