Evernote pocket ruled smart notebook. Moleskine.

Evernote has announced a partnership with popular analog sketchbook maker Moleskine to introduce the Evernote Smart Notebook. Designed for iPhone and iPad users (the Evernote iOS app just got an update), the notebook allows them to import their notes and sketches written on paper into the app.

Here’s how it works. The Moleskine-designed notebook uses a special dotted paper pattern on the pages that are optimised for new features in Evernote. The Evernote Smart Notebook offers two paper style variants: ruled and squared. Once users jot down notes or doodle in their notebook, they can use the Page Camera functionality of their updated iOS app to take photos of those pages.

Page Camera automatically improves the contrast of the page and removes any shadows. It finds the dot pattern and even corrects the skew of the photo. Further, each Smart Notebook comes with 4 sheets of Smart Stickers nestled in the back pocket of the notebook.

Users can apply a sticker to a page and take a photo. Evernote recognises the sticker and instantly associates a tag with the note or places it into a notebook that you specify in your Settings. The Smart Stickers come with some pre-defined tags but are customisable. Further add-ons include some handy Skitch arrows that can be used to draw attention to more important things on the page.

Th Evernote Smart Notebook will be available in both pocket (3.5 x 5.5 inches / 8.89 x 13.97 cm) and large (5 x 8.25 inches / 12.7 x 20.96 cm) sizes, priced at $25 and $30. They are expected to hit store shelves October 1st. If you are excited enough already, you can pre-order one from Evernote’s website.
