Bertoia diamond lounge chair. Harry bertoia.

Created in 1952 by sculptor Harry Bertoia, the Diamond Lounge chair is revered as a mid-century study of design. Bertoia was experimenting with the bending of metal rods into practical forms when this original chair was constructed. The delicate, bendy appearance of the grid-like patterned body disguises the actual strength of the chair, which has been in constant production since its conception. “If you look at the chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture,” Bertoia has been recorded as commenting. He pointed out that space passes right through them. The Diamond Lounge chair is available in a variety of finishes and with the option of a removable seat cushion. Cushions are available in an array of colors. The frame is scratch, chip and chemical resistant.
Primary dimensions are: L 85 x W 71¾ x H 76¼ x Seat Heights 42 cm; L 33½ x W 28¼ x H 30 x Seat Height 16¾ inches.
