A reconsideration of the traditional Pestle & Mortar, to create a more effective way of grinding herbs and spices.

In a conventional bowl-shaped mortar, herbs and spices are free to move away from the pestle in any direction. In the oval-shaped mortar, the close-fitting pestle can only move in one direction, trapping and grinding the contents much more effectively. When not in use, the Pestle fits securely within the Mortar.
