The designers’, Jeff Weber and Bill Stumpf, goal of the Embody chair for Herman Miller was to create a chair that benefits both your body and mind. The chair promotes movement allowing more blood and oxygen flow to your brain, which will keep you focused and functional throughout the workday. This is shown in not only the aesthetic but also the design of Embody. The futuristic- looking back of the chair resembles a spine and in its aesthetic and the way it adjusts automatically to your movement, keeping your own spine aligned and healthy while your lower back support remains constant. The narrowness of the backrest lets your arms move freely for added comfort. The seat is designed to support your weight and keep you in good balance while the flexible edges take off pressure from your thighs. Herman Miller claims that this chair will reduce stress, help circulation, lowers your heart rate, and improves your posture. Available in several colors and textiles the breathable materials, like many other of Herman Miller’s amazing designs, are made from 42% non-toxic recycled content and are 95% recyclable. An extraordinarily beautiful chair that is also good for the environment. With all these features no wonder it won several awards including the “Best of 2008” by WIRED magazine, the “Best of Tech” by Yahoo Tech in 2008, the People’s Choice at National Ergonomics, and the Best of NeoCon Silver in the Ergonomic Desk/Task Seating category.
